Dear Body,

I love you.

I've been struggling the last month with picking a topic for my blog until today.  I came across this instagram page @dearbodyproject created by @itsarifitz and realized it's time for me to make amends to my body.  Her goal is to get you to write a letter to your body and share it and promote self love. Doing this video allowed me to see how many resentments I held because I did so much damage, and to finally forgive myself.  So here it is.

Dear Body,

First, let me say I'm sorry it's taken me 46 years to tell you I love you.    I'm sorry that I went overboard taking drugs and alcohol in my twenty's to drown out my thoughts or feelings.  I'm sorry I didn't learn how to feed you properly or overworked you all these years and didn't allow you time to rest and recover.  I'm sorry I never smiled because of my teeth, or always wore baggy clothes because I thought you were awkward. Even after learning how to care for you a little bit through my thirties, I threw that all out the window in my forties and hurt you again.  I'm sorry I let the stress of life and injuries be an excuse to neglect you.  Today I want to tell you I Love you, I love your sober body more than ever.  I promise to care for your injuries the best way I can.  I promise to feed and nourish you every day.  I know hydrating you is a simple task I still struggle with but I promise to do better.  I promise to love you for what you are and to change things that will better you.  Thank you for being patient with me and allowing me the opportunity to make things right with you.  Today  I'm so very grateful for the strength you had to endure everything I put you through. Dear body, you are beautiful and strong, and I am finally ready to accept your more masculine version of you.  Dear body, I am no longer afraid to share your quirkiness and I am ready to accept that you are perfect just the way you are.  I love you and that's all that matters.  Love, Me

Mucho Love,  Jamie
