A Poem for Me
This external shell holds you different today
the language between the mind, spirit, and physical play
in sync and gentle, open to healing and splendor
excited to be aware.
pieces of me protected for years, now laid out
a wall here, a wall there
crumble
cancer here, cancer there
I stumble,
I take flight towards a life I’ve worked so hard for
my resilience, my care, my might
I stand, I climb, I fight
all agreements that were given to me to ease my steps
were not mine to begin.
today a new day I choose my own
one without fear, or suffering and alone
I choose to grow.
now close your eyes
and place your right hand on your heart
your left on your stomach
BREATH…
a breath here, a breath here, a breath here
you stand here
strong, healthy, worthy, kind, generous, loving
there is nothing to fear
this poem is for you
this poem is for me
are you not ready to be free.
Happy New Year!
Peace and Serenity,
Jamie
